Holiday home in a unique location in Norway
Every Fjord Rentals lodge sits somewhere different — by the water, at the forest's edge, or high on the mountainside.
Every Lodge, Its Own View
No two Fjord Rentals lodges sit in quite the same spot. Some look out over Lake Nisser or Vråvatn. Others are tucked at the edge of pine forest, in the hills around Vrådal, in the Telemark region of southern Norway. A few sit high enough that the view stretches for miles.
The setting is worth thinking about before you book — a lodge on the water suits a different kind of stay than one tucked into the forest, or one built for the ski season. What stays the same, wherever you end up, is the standard: every lodge is individually owned, with its own character, but each one is beautifully prepared, fully equipped and properly heated before you arrive.
In this piece, we walk through the three settings you'll find across the collection — by the water, at the forest's edge, and on the mountainside — and what each one is actually like to stay in.

Guests can enjoy:
• By the water — several lodges sit on or near Lake Nisser and Lake Vråvatn, some with a private beach and kayaks or canoes to use on the lake
• At the forest's edge — standalone houses surrounded by pine forest and quiet forest tracks, good for walking or biking
• On the mountainside — a handful of lodges sit high enough that the view carries for miles, close to the ski slopes outside Vrådal
• One standard throughout — sauna in most lodges, a hot tub in many, and every house cleaned and ready before you arrive

By the water
Wake up to the lake
Lake Nisser and Lake Vråvatn both run through the area around Vrådal, and several lodges sit close enough to reach the water in a short walk. Some come with a private beach; a few have kayaks or canoes on hand for guests who want to get out on the lake itself. If boats and bikes aren't already part of your stay, both can be added on — the lakes are the reason many guests come here in the first place.
At the forest's edge
Quiet, and your own
Every lodge is a standalone house, not a unit in a larger building — so a lodge at the edge of the forest means exactly that: pine trees at the door, and next to no one else around. It's a setting that suits a quiet couple's escape as easily as it suits a family who wants the kids to have somewhere to run. Forest paths and biking trails run through the area for anyone who wants to explore further than the terrace.

On the mountainside
A different kind of view
A number of lodges sit higher into the hills around Vrådal, where the view opens out across the valley and, on a clear day, carries for miles. These are the lodges closest to the ski slopes in winter, and in summer the same height that gives you the view also tends to mean a cooler terrace on a warm afternoon. Vrådal's golf course is also within easy reach from this side of the area.
Sauna, hot tub, or both
Warm up, after a day outside
Most Fjord Rentals lodges have a sauna, and many also have a hot tub — often positioned to make the most of whatever the lodge looks out onto, whether that's a lake, a treeline or a fjord view. After a day on the water, on the trails or on the slopes, it's the detail guests mention most.

What ties it all together
The setting changes. The standard doesn't.
Wherever a lodge sits, the arrival is the same: the house is cleaned, the beds are made, and everything is ready before you get there. There's no reception to check into — you let yourself in, and the day is yours from that point on. If you need anything during your stay, support is a phone call or email away.
That's really the idea behind the collection: pick the setting that suits you — water, forest or mountain — and know that whichever one you choose, it's been prepared to the same standard as every other lodge on the site.
