How to get there
Fjord Rentals is located in the heart of Telemark, around the village of Vrådal, surrounded by lakes, forests and mountains. The area is easy to reach by car and well connected to the rest of Southern Norway.
Driving is the easiest way to reach Vrådal and explore the area. From the Netherlands, Belgium or Germany, you can travel via Denmark and Sweden, or take a ferry to Southern Norway and continue inland by road. Common ferry crossings include Hirtshals to Kristiansand, Hirtshals to Larvik, and Kiel to Oslo. Routes are maintained year-round, including in winter. Once you are here, having a car makes it simple to visit lakes, hiking trails, ski slopes, and nearby villages whenever you like.
The nearest airports are TORP Sandefjord (TRF), Oslo Gardermoen (OSL), and Kristiansand (KRS). From either airport, Vrådal can be reached by rental car. The drive is scenic and relaxing, taking you from city roads to forests, lakes and open mountain landscapes.
Getting to Vrådal by public transport is possible, but options are limited. You can travel by train or bus to towns in Telemark, then continue the last part by taxi. If you want full freedom during your stay, a car is best.
The last stretch into Vrådal is part of the experience, with quiet roads, lakes and mountain views along the way. Most Fjord Rentals lodges can be reached directly by car, with parking available on site. In winter, road conditions can change quickly, so plan a little extra time and use proper winter equipment.
