Every lodge is privately owned, so every one has its own character: some warm and traditional, with timber walls and that unmistakable Norwegian cabin feeling; others contemporary and light, with wide windows that bring the landscape in. We don't make them all the same — that's part of the charm.
Behind that individuality, one thing stays consistent: a beautifully prepared home, a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and proper heating. You choose the view. We prepare the rest. So from the moment you arrive, there is nothing you have to do. Except slow down.
How do we choose the lodges we rent?
Every lodge is hand-picked before it joins the collection.
Not every lodge becomes a Fjord Rentals lodge. We look for places that make you want to stay a little longer — the view from the terrace, the silence of the forest outside the door, morning light filling the living room, or that feeling when you walk in, put down your bags, and just know: this is going to be good.
The essentials have to be right first — comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, proper heating, a home beautifully prepared for arrival. But what we're really looking for is character: a lodge we'd choose for our own holiday, and happily recommend to someone we care about. That's the whole test.

Where are the lodges located?
Our lodges are in and around Vrådal, a village in Telemark, roughly three hours from Oslo and within reach of the southern ferry ports. It is a landscape of long lakes, forested ridges and low mountains, with Lake Vråvatn and Lake Nisser both running through the area.
Some houses look straight out over the water. Others sit back inside pine forest, or high enough that the view carries for miles. Several are minutes from the ski slopes, several a short walk from a swimming beach, and the Vrådal golf course is close by.

There is not much light in the double bedroom on the ground floor near the shelves where you can put your clothes. The toilet in the bathroom with the double sink came loose from the wall a little. There was no shelf in the shower to put your shower items on in the bathroom with double sink. The hob was very difficult to turn on. It did not always respond.”

We had already booked a cabin (Furuhus) with friends through Fjord Rentals three years ago and would do so again in a heartbeat. We would like to send a message to the owner of the house... We missed the following items in the kitchen, which could be purchased for little money... - A water jug/carafe - Tea strainer or teapot We also missed having somewhere to hang our clothes in the bedrooms. Three or four hooks per room would have been nice. We agree with other tenants who stated in their Google reviews that the blankets in the bedroom are too thin. We also had two nights that were very chilly. We also missed a little cosiness/personal touch (like Furuhus).”

10/10“Beautiful lodge - fully equipped - but far from Vradal. Beautiful nature, we enjoyed walking in the area. The view from the cottage is truly amazing. The large glass surfaces allow you to be in direct contact with the changing weather outside. Lots of light in the living room. Quiet: we were there at the end of June 2025 and the three nearby lodges were empty. Spring: no mosquitoes! Having breakfast on the terrace is impossible - there is no table. In the photos, you see a beautifully set table (misleading). Storoddevegen is a gravel road, which creates a lot of dust when a car drives by. It is very difficult to cook anything on the induction hob due to the safety features. It keeps switching off, even with the extractor fan on maximum and the hob on 4. Difficult to find – the GPS system does not recognise Storoddevegen (it is also a private road). Please provide the coordinates of the lodge. Air extraction in the toilet would be appreciated.”
